Dissappointing squad for first 2 ODIs

Akays England Tour Diaries

The first game is starting on Saturday, December 10, 2005. The final XI should be very closely similar to the one played in the last ODI series. However, the squad overall is quite dissappointing when you consider the names being left out. Bazid Khan, Hasan Raza and Umar Gul all find themselves from the outside looking in. On the other hand, Mohammad Sami (the oustanding failure), Arshad Khan (the eternal drinks carrier) Yasir Hameed (the bygone) are very much in the mix of things. The recent form and performance of the three do not need further mention. It is imperative for Pakistan to ensure that they get a chance while they are at the peaks of their relative careers.

Pakistan's official squad: Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik, Yasir Hameed, Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, Abdul Razzaq, Kamran Akmal (wk), Yasir Arafat, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami, Danish Kaneria, Mohammad Asif, Arshad Khan.

Adeel's ideal squad: Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, Hasan Raza, Bazid Khan, Abdul Razzaq, Kamran Akmal (wk), Yasir Arafat, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Shoaib Akhtar, Danish Kaneria, Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul.

Adeel how can you not include mo sami in ur squad. You have included asif and gul. No doubt they are extremely fine seamers, but on this wicket.. only pace can beat the batsman as uve seen in the first 2 ODIs. Englands seemers are way better than pakis..but as david said..the only difference is SHOAIB AKHTAR in the two sides..so you cant exclude sami. He hasnt taken a lotta wickets but had the best figures in first ODI and bowled relatively good in the second. Get your thoughts straigh Adeel.. :)... Great site by the way..keep it up

Hunain, hindsight is always better. Sami failed in the test matches as well on the same flat tracks. Except for maybe a couple spells. Hasn't done anything last 18 months to warrant a place. Pace is great, if u can direct it properly. Speaking of which, Sami hasn't actually done too bad! Perhaps its always good to for Sami to have a fast bowler breathing down his throat! lol

Anyways whats up with you these days... I heard you are re-joining the CN tower staff this Christmans ;)

I would agree with Hunain , I think apart from having seen Sami being auctioned on Canadian EBAY , I believe he's still worth of making it to the side . Here is my dream squad that could BOWL,DEFEND(although not required on an expected deadly Pitch),and Hit at the death when its really required.

Salman Butt(paced innings)
Kamran Akmal(Accelerate when required)
Younis Khan(Stability:Providing the odd 40-50)
Muhammad Yousuf (Always Dependable)
Inzi(Captain Himself)
Malik(Wow at Number 6? huh - been bowlign well)
Afridi(Kick the Gas Pedal! and bowl is leggies odd 1-2 wickets)
Razzaq(Quick Fire 30!adds variety to pace attack)
Shoaib Akhter( Pindi Express ! U kick Butt!(not Salman ofcourse)
Sami(Cant kick him out , not many other options I see)
Rana Naved(Had been the spearhead of Pakistan Attack - RANAAAA! )

Bring it on English !

We ready with 35000 FANS to make some Noisee!
