Sami gets another life

Akays England Tour Diaries

I seriously feel Sami shoud be dropped and shd spend a year or two outside intl cricket and evaluate himself. He has speed, but sadly not much else! I bash sami alot and hell he deserves every bit of it. A person with greater self-respect for himself maybe would have sidelined himself like Lehmann did earlier this year.

I have always also said that the guy has serious potential and is tries hard. At times I do feel sorry for him as well, like when Inzy went upto him yesterday after the over he gave 3 lollipop boundaries. Inzy had a serious word with him it looked and then akhter came and patted on his back to carry on. He works hard, but hs been an absolute struggle for the last 16 months. I think if we persisted with Asif or Gul in that period, they would have solidified themselves as the 3rd seamer. Sami on the other hand has failed spectacularly.

I disagree again.. if u presist with gul and asif..who are very new and inexperienced.. then who will bowl the death overs. You saw in the ODI how rana went for dozensss in the death overs..he cudnt contain.. sami only gave 4 runs in the 50th over. Sami can handle the last few overs..but bowlers like asif and gul..they have no hope..not atleast on this typa wicket..

I really think Sami bowls well at the death overs and hes good with bowling yolkers getting rid of the taillys and thats where hes got all his wickets anyway ;)

Sami has a lot of talent, and he is showing a bit of it in this series. This is thefirst time in last 16 months that he has been able to string 3 consistent performances together. However, I won't brand him as a death overs bowler as yet. He's been far, far too inconsistent for that.

As for Asif and Gul, the only way they will learn is by playing. They do have great potential and have the baility to get considerable movement from the ball, and they also have teh tendency to keep the ball on one side of the wicket.
